Shah Rukh Khan Detained By US Authorities!

Shah Rukh Khan tweeted out a message to his millions of Twitter followers to let them know he was being detained by US authorities at the Los Angeles International Airport. He sent out these tweets just a few hours ago so it looks like he arrived Thursday night in Los Angeles.

PhotoGrid_1470975945084_1I already knew he was headed to the States as I saw photos of him at Mumbai’s airport with his children Aryan and Suhana Khan. Later I saw a photo of him on the same plane as Varun Dhawan and Karan Johar who are headed to the States for their Dream Team tour.

It’s not clear right now why he was detained or for how long but this is not his first time being detained by American authorities. Back in 2009 SRK was detained for two hours at Newark airport and was released after India’s embassy intervened.

Then in 2012, SRK revealed he was detained for 90 minutes at the White Plains airport near New York and there was a huge backlash by the Indian community who questioned why the celebrity would be detained again. Based on the tweets online so far, it looks like the Indian community is upset again over why India’s biggest celebrity would be detained at the airport yet again. I’m not sure yet if SRK has even been able to leave the airport yet. There’s been no comment from immigration officials and no word from the Indian embassy. His Twitter account has no new activity since he tweeted about being detained.

While I can imagine how upset he must be right now, it looks like SRK is trying to find the humor in the situation with the Pokemon reference. He has previously been asked about being detained repeatedly by the US authorities and he had this to say about it: “whenever I start feeling arrogant about myself, I always take a trip to America. The immigration guys kick the star out of stardom.” SRK had also said his name has been removed from the no-fly list so he hoped he would no longer be detained. I have a feeling that what’s likely to have happened is his name is still in the database.

That’s all the information right now. I will update you once I have more. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: He was released after about two hours.
