By amin | Comments: 0 | June 26, 2016

Last night was the annual International Indian Film Acadamy (IIFA) awards and since this event is considered the Oscars of Indian cinema, the stars had the task of bringing the glitz and glamour to the red carpet. So how did the stars do this year? Take a look at my picks for the Best, the Worst, and the Meh.

BEST

Nargis Fakhri showed off her model figure in this embellished black Namrata Joshipura gown with a plunging neckline and deep back. Love!

Shriya Saran in this maroon Falguni and Shane Peacock gown. It’s classy, figure-flattering, and a great color on her.

Divya Khosla Kumar in this cream colored Vikram Phadnis lehenga. It gives bridal vibes but she looks like an Indian princess so why not? Considering we didn’t see many Indian outfits on at the awards, I applaud her for bringing her desi out in this lehenga.

Athiya Shetty looked like a princess in a white full length gown with full sleeves by designer Rami Kadi.

Shilpa Shetty wore this white gown by Shantanu & Nikhil. The gown had side cut-outs and gives me jumpsuit vibes. It showed off her amazing toned body and she looked very chic and sexy.

Hrithik Roshan looked dapper in Troy Costa. It’s not your typical black tux so I applaud him for trying something different but the silver color still makes it very classy and perfect for a black tie event.

Daisy Shah in this black and white strapless gown by Mayyur Girotra. It makes her look flawless and classic. I also love the simple straight hairdo. The dress stands out on its own so I really like how she went simple and natural for her hair and makeup.

Aditi Rao Hydari in this green shimmering gown by Shantanu & Nikhil. Again, another princess look! I really love the sweetheart neckline on her, the green color pops against her skin tone, and it’s very flattering on her.

Bhumi Pednekar wore a grey lace gown by Shantanu & Nikhil.

Best Dressed of The Night:

I had a hard time picking just one dress that I loved the most so I’m sharing my top 2 choices for Best Dressed of The Night. First up it’s Deepika Padukone in this white Sabyasachi gown. It’s said her outfit was inspired by Spanish bull fighters hence the cape. I love the Spanish touch and it’s dramatic but so elegant. She looks breathtaking. LOVE!!!

Sonakshi Sinha in this Abu Jani Sandeep Khola white organza dress with cherry blossoms, sequins, pearls, and Swarovski crystals. The dress is such a romantic one, fit for a princess!

MEH: OH THE FENCE

Priyanka Chopra wore this chiffon gown by Schiaparelli Couture. I really like Priyanka and she can pull off any look but this dress was surprisingly really understated. I can see her wearing this dress to a pre-event but for the actual awards show, I expected something more. I don’t hate this dress but I didn’t think it was a good choice for the IIFAs.

Dia Mirza in this pastel green Nakul Sen gown. The dress is just a shrug. It’s nothing really terrible or really great. It’s too safe and that choker piece is not needed. I wish she had picked something that was more of a ballgown.

Ranveer Singh in this Tom Ford suit. I’m not a fan of the sky blue. Darker blue would have been more elegant. I really don’t like when men attend a black-tie event and try to be funky. It’s hard to pull off. If a guy doesn’t want a classic black suit or tux, then going for a navy blue or grey color is the next best bet.

Elli Avram in this green gown by Asa Kazingmei. I like the color on her but the print of the dress makes her look like she’s a reptile, doesn’t it? She looks like she’s wearing the skin of a skin.

WORST

Bipasha Basu in this blue Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla ruffled gown. I like the color but all those ruffles are too much on her. Look at the back of the dress…it makes her look way bigger than she is. Not flattering on her at all!

Neha Dhupia in this white H&M gown that looked too casual for the red carpet and didn’t flatter her figure.

Those of my picks! Let me know what you thought of this  year’s IIFA awards show fashion. Who did you think was the best and the worst dressed of the night? Let me know!
