Neil Nitin Mukesh got engaged to Mumbai-based Rukmini Sahay this past Tuesday in a hotel in Mumbai. The engagement was attended by close friends and family.

Who is the bride? We know she’s 27, works in the aviation industry, and her family knows Neil’s family very well.

How did they meet? The two were fixed up by Neil’s parents and dated for a month before getting engaged. She’s apparently won the hearts of the entire Mukesh family with her “simplicity and upbringing”. Neil’s dad, Nitin Mukesh, says “she reflects the values and traditions that Neil has been raised with and compliments him in every way possible. Neil is quite old school in his ways…he left the decision of finding his soulmate in his parents’ trusted hands and there couldn’t have been a better match for him than Rukmini.”

Neil spoke with a Mumbai newspaper and told them “I have been hoping to find someone for the last two-three years, even mom and dad were talking about it for so long. Suddenly, on the first day of Ganpati, a common family friend mentioned Rukmini. I was supposed to fly to Sri Lanka for a show and was not even serious about it. But my father insisted that I meet her. And when I met her, I knew that she was the one.” He later adds, “I think she is just perfect. She is the perfect balance that any man would want in his woman. She is simple, beautiful, loving, and all the awesome adjectives I can think of. She fits them all!”

Now that he’s engaged, does Neil plan on moving out of his family’s home? “I am not moving out. My father and mother won’t allow me to…and I don’t want that to happen.”

No wedding date is set but it’s expected to be early next year. Congratulations Neil!
