The benefit single, which also features Janelle Morae, Kelly Rowland, Lea Michele, Zendaya, Jadagrace, and Chloe & Halle, was written by Diana Warren to benefit the Let Girls Learn Fund.

 

 The song called “This Is For My Girls” and will serve as the anthem for the initiative launched by the President and first lady a year ago to help the more than 62 million girls who are not in school get access to education.

 All proceeds from U.S. iTunes sales of the song will go to the fund, which provides training to Peace Corps volunteers so they can become change agents for girls’ education in their communities. Apple, Motown, the artists and their respective labels, have all donated their royalty fees in support of Let Girls Learn.

During an appearance at the this year’s SXSW concert, Michelle Obama encouraged people all over the world to commit to help girls go to school and stay there.

Michelle Obama also released a new public service announcment to bring attention to the cause, saying ” “Today we take the next step to get those girls into school where they belong. It’s time to act. Go to 62milliongirls.com and take the pledge to supports girls education around the world.”

The PSA and song were producted by AOL’s Makers program.
