Payal had her friends Monica Dogra and Shibani Dandekar to walk as showstoppers. Why two showstoppers? Payal told the media that she wanted the audience to envision the playful atmosphere of a bride with her bridesmaids. It was about looking amazing but having fun as well.

Not 1 but 2 showstoppers!

Models wore saris with boxy crop tops, lehengas with bandeau cholis, drop waist kurtas, and the designer’s signature churidar-skirts. Fabrics included chanderi cottons, silks, chiffons, and vibrant prints comprised of handpainted techniques. Colors highlighted were pomegranate, slate grey, teal, rose quartz, iced azure, and stone with delicate zardosi.

The Summer/Resort Bride collection featured versatile separates mixed in with some classics for the modern day Mahrani. “The collection was all about contemporary Indian princess and I want to have that feel of girlfriends and bridesmaids. I specially went to Benaras to develop a few silhouettes and worked on some classic chintz prints and added a modern twist to it.”

Her favourite piece from the collection? The print long jacket and the stone organza skirt with an embroidered zardosi jaal.
