Dinner w/ the Girls!

by Amin Dhillon on Aug.14, 2010, under Blog

Hey Dolls!

I went out for a lovely dinner with my girls.  My friend Pam and I have been craving pasta forever so we finally decided to go out and indulge in our craving.  The food was delicious but best of all we had a blow by blow recap from Pam of her recent Backstreet Boys experience.  That's right, I will admit it.  We are Backstreet Boys fans.  Reminiscing about them reminds us when we were thirteen and knew every word to every song they had.  Good to see the boys are still making music!  Pam was lucky enough to have a meet and greet with the boys, which lead us to a very important question:  where have all the boybands gone?  I remember when we used to have so many boybands from 98 Degress to Nsync to Take 5, b44, 5ive, and so many more!

Hey, there's a teenybopper fan in all of us!

So in honor of our conversation, I would recommend all of you to take a moment out of your day and pull out your old pop CDs.  It doesn't matter which old pop artist or band you were into, just throw on their CD and enjoy the experience!  See if you can still remember all the words!  Let me know who you favorite band was and what song still reminds you of your teen or preteen years!

Much love and boyband fever!

XOXO

Folklorama Week 2: India Pavilion

by Amin Dhillon on Aug.13, 2010, under Blog

IMG_0309aHey Everyone!

My friend Pam and I went out and checked out India's pavilion this year at Folklorama.  We saw many of the great acts from last year but with even better performances!  Shiamak Davar's dance troupe was back again and did not disappoint!

Here are some pics from our experience!

KOENA MITRA

KOENA MITRA

Hey Everyone,

To my surprise, turns out Koena Mitra was invited to attend the Teen Choice Awards this Sunday.  She was the only Indian invited to attend.  Check out Koena's outfit for the event.

Thoughts?

P.S.  Anyone know what she was promoting there?

Folklorama Week One: Indo-Tropical Paradise Pavilion

Hey Dolls and Gents!

One of my favorite things about my hometown Winnipeg is Folklorama.  It's an annual two week celebration where everyone can go out and visit various cultural events.  Not only do you get to promote your own heritage and cultural background, you get to learn about everyone else's.  I think it's one of the best events we have in the city and I always love attending the pavilions.  Tonight, my friend Dana and I went to the Indo-Tropical Pavilion.  It was my first time attending and it was a blast!

The show was full of amazing performances.  Lots of Bollywood favorites with some caribbean beats, Dana and my friend couldn't stop dancing in our seats!  We each tried the stuffed roti (Dana had the chicken and I had the veggie) and both were delicious.  We were so stuff that we made it halfway through the rotis because we had to give up.

Dana had a chance to try on a sari and we checked out some of the lovely jewellery, clothes, and crafts.  My favorite part was Dana trying to learn how to put on the sari.  She might actually be better at putting on the sari than me!

Here's some pics! Dana and I are off to check out the other pavilions tomorrow!

Thanks to Sim Singhl for the t-shirt I'm wearing!

IMG_4076_1Hey Everyone!

I was checking out some of the latest fashions and I thought I'd post some of my favorite picks.

There's a Canadian company called Pink Tartan and I really like their feminine, girly pieces they have.

I love to dress girly and if I'm going out, I'm usually wearing a cute dress or skirt.  I'm pretty curvy so I like wearing dresses and skirts that play up my curves.  So here are my picks from Pink Tartan's Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

As you can see, the four looks can be worn at the office and then out for dinner.  I love that because I like being on the go.  Sometimes, I don't have time to drive all the way back home, change, and then drive all the way back when I could go straight from the office to the evening event.

Plus, you don't have to be a size zero to pull off these looks and they are classic.  I hate buying things that are "in" right now, but you know you won't be able to match up the pieces with anything else in your closet.  Worse yet, someone might look at you and go, hey, that was so last year!  Cringe!

What do you think?

Hey Loves!

Last night, a really good friend of mine had her birthday gathering.  It was great catching up with old friends.  Some of the people I met at the party I had known all the way from elementary school!  I had a great time meeting up with everyone, most of whom I haven't even had a chance to see in person since before the pageant!

Today I'm focusing on working on my book.  I'm really excited with the way the book is turning out and I can't wait until I can share it with all of you.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and remember to stay in touch!

Much love,

Amin xoxo

Hey Loves!

Check out this super cute dress that I'm wearing from Sim Singhl.  I'm super obsessed with dresses and I love the fact this dress can be worn out for shopping with the girls and later out for a club night. Love the hood! What do you think?

Getting Ready for a Night Out

Hey Dolls!
I had a great time last night with my girls. Went out for a much needed girls night out.  I love getting dressed up and going out with my friends.  Even though I'm busy working on my book, it's always nice to take a little break.
Love to all of you!
